What is the WTAVL?
The WTAVL or Wireless Telematics (WT) Automatic Vehicle Locator/Tracker
is a small device that is installed in your car, truck or bus.
The WTAVL collects real-time GPS information on your vehicle's
time, date, speed and location and wirelessly sends this telemetry
information.
Do I need special software?
No, the WTAVL Tracking Interface is a Java™ Applet. An
Internet connection, an Internet browser (like the Netscape Browser
or Internet Explorer) and the Java Plug-In are all
you need. Most PC's come with Java preinstalled.

Where can I download the Java™ Plug-In?
Java can be downloaded for free from Sun Microsystems,
Inc.
You can download just the plug-in for your browser or install the
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) so you can run any Java application
on your computer.

What version of Java™ do I need?
You should have at least version 1.4.0_02 installed for the
applet to run correctly in your browser. Versions 1.4.1 and 1.4.2
are also compatible.
I can only find my vehicle when it is running, why
is that?
WT turns the WTAVL off when your engine is turned off. We
do this to conserve your car's battery power. When
your vehicle stops and the engine is turned off, the WTAVL sends
a location point. This shows on the map as a Engine Off
point. It is logical to assume that your car, bus or truck is
found at this location when the vehicle is parked. WTAVL can "wake-up" at
an interval you set and report its position.
How do I install the WTAVL device?
An instruction manual was packaged with your device. But we
provide the installation manual on our Support site.

Why can't I see my car on the website
when it's in the garage?
You have to be able to "see the sky" for GPS
to work. However, the WTAVL will send the engine on or engine
off time, and report this time on the website. When the WTAVL
regains the GPS signal, it will send the location.
Do I need a broadband or high-speed Internet
connection to view the WTAVL Tracking Interface?
No, although performance of the application will be improved
with a faster connection.
