Applications

Wireless Telematics supports several data handling models.
We have developed our own Internet Tracking Application where customers can view their WTAVL tracking telemetry data plotted on a high definition map with graphing capabilities and a simple to use interface to send requests and commands to their device.
In addition to providing the data directly to our customers using our Internet applications we also provide an Internet protocol for our Enterprise clients, used to communicate directly with their devices and develop their own end user applications.

WTAVL Tracking Interface Application

Our Tracking Interface provides an application where the user can easily configure their tracking device and see the telemetry data being reported by the unit. GPS location data is displayed on a high definition map using easy to see color-coded icons that quickly describes the state of the vehicle to the user and the telemetry data such as the vehicle’s speed and direction is tabulated for your review. The application provides the following interface functions to the device:

  • Configure Alarm Notifications
  • Create a Geological Fence
  • Set Tracking Interval
  • Set Sleep Interval
  • Recall History Data
  • Request Device Location
  • Data Graphing
  • Enable/Disable Engine
  • Unlock Doors

Each of these features is described in detail on our Products web page. The type of device and installation you choose will define the functionality available to you through the tracking application.

The application is a Java™ Applet that will run inside your browser so there is no software for the user to install. Although some users may need to upgrade their Java™ Plug-In version if they have an older version installed. The WTAVL Tracking Interface requires Java™ version 1.4.0_02 or later.

Java™ is a product of Sun Microsystems, Inc and the Java™ Plug-In is a FREE download from the Sun website.
If you have any questions about Java™ or how to install Java™ on your computer check out our Support site or Contact Us.

WT Device Communication Protocol

Wireless Telematics is foremost an engineering firm where we develop hardware to interface with existing equipment to provide telemetry information for a commercial enterprise. For our enterprise clients who require the telemetry data we have created a simple device communication protocol to be used over the Internet.

The Wireless Telematics Device Communication Protocol is a set of Extensible Markup Language (XML) documents that provide a standard format to transfer data. It is designed to provide a simple framework in which to pass information to and from a Wireless Telematics (WT) two-way capable wireless device. The protocol allows for the transmission of text or binary messages. Bi-directional or one-way pagers are equally accessible by using this communication protocol.

The objectives of the protocol are to:

  • Provide a standard framework for customers to interact with their wireless devices
  • Support communication for any WT device
  • Send and receive any message regardless of device specific data type or protocol

Enterprises interested in using this protocol to receive data must contact us directly to receive the protocol specification.
